Marketplace health plans cover dental for children, but almost never for adults. A separate dental plan costs little and prevents big bills.
What they usually cover
- Cleanings and preventive checkups (generally at no additional cost in network).
- Fillings, extractions and X-rays with a copay or coinsurance.
- Crowns, bridges and orthodontics depending on the plan and waiting periods.
When it makes sense
If you have kids with braces, if it has been more than a year since your last dental visit, or if you know you have treatment pending. We review it alongside your health plan so you never pay twice for the same thing.
